Even at a difficult time,
there is a good way to choose something special:
If choosing specific titles seems overwhelming, one of the most valuable things you can do is to simply let your musicians know the overall situation. When family and friends of the deceased choose the primary mood and focus of the service, our musicians can recommend appropriate music based on that mood. This often produces the very best results, as the family knows best which themes to emphasize, while the musicians have a thorough knowledge of a great deal of repertoire. Possible themes include:
- a celebration of a long, full life
- thanksgiving to God
- a sense of relief after a long illness
- a need for comfort in great loss
- a celebration of the faithfulness of the departed
- a prayer for peace
- joy and thanks for God’s gifts & blessings
- prayers for the soul of the departed
- a simple expression of real sorrow
- a need for reassurance of God’s continued presence
