These are just a few of the fine performers associated with James Lake Music Services.  They are listed here to give you a sense of the quality and experience offered.  Personnel choices for a particular event are always subject to availability, and are at the discretion of the Music Director.  The list here is just a sampling; our full roster is deep; the quality of performance is never sacrificed.  To request any of these musicians, contact Jim directly.
Solo Instrumentalists:
  • Angela Gosse - Trumpet:  Trumpet player Angela Gosse is an orchestral and chamber musician and a frequent soloist.  She can be heard in the recorded soundtrack of the award-winning Broadway production of "War Horse" at Lincoln Center Theater.  Angela plays principal trumpet with the Verismo Opera and the Bronx Arts Ensemble. She has played with the New World Symphony in Miami and Dicapo Opera in NY.  Angela has given recitals with organists Stephen Tharp, Claudia Dumschat, and Gregory Eaton, as well as concerts with the Arcadia Brass Quintet.  You can hear Angela on "Christmas Carols for Organ and Trumpet" (JAV 184) with Jim Lake, trumpet and Dr. Jennifer Pascual, organ recorded at St. Patrick's Cathedral, NY, and on the Fordham University Choir's new CD.  Angela frequently plays the brilliant trumpet parts in Handel's Messiah, Bach's Magnificat (NYC Master Chorale, Bronx Arts) and Bach Cantatas (#77 with Westchester Choral Society & #51 with Sinfonia Celistis).  Angela has a Masters degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a Bachelor of Music from New England Conservatory.  She has studied trumpet with members of the Boston Symphony, New York Philharmonic and Philadelphia Orchestra.
  • Leah Potteiger - Violin:  Leah Potteiger has been playing violin since the age of three. As the daughter of a music educator, she spent her formative years immersed in music, eventually going on to major in violin performance and music education at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Her many years of professional experience include performances with Josh Groban and Mannheim Steamroller, numerous symphony and choral concerts, musicals, chamber recitals, and solo recitals. She currently plays with singer-songwriter Jann Klose, the String Angels, One World Symphony, and chamber ensemble Alea, among others.
  • Alison Crossley - Flute:  Alison Crossley has performed nationally and internationally as an orchestral and chamber musician, and tours with the Four Celtic Voices ensemble.  Alison’s recent engagements have been with The Chelsea Symphony, Metro Chamber Orchestra and One World Symphony. Other highlights include appearances at The Tribeca Film Festival, The National Flute Association and The Greater Boston's Flute Conventions, The International Flute Festival of Chile, and at The Ritz-Carlton in Doha, Qatar. Alison received her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Flute Performance from Carnegie Mellon University and her Master of Arts Degree in Music Performance from New York University. Alison has participated in the music festivals at The Banff Centre, The Brevard Music Center, and The Lake Placid Institute.
  • Marisol Espada - Cello:  Marisol Espada, cellist, has performed with the American Symphony Orchestra, Brooklyn Philharmonic, Kansas City Symphony, Lake Placid Sinfonietta, Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, and the North/South Consonance Ensemble, as well as in more than 20 Broadway shows. She has appeared as a soloist in Carnegie Hall as part of the Don Shirley Trio. Versatile in a variety of musical styles, she has performed and/or recorded with Cantor Ida Rae Cahana (Central Synagogue, NYC), Ann Carlson (Jacob’s Pillow), Ron Carter, Alicia Keys, Chuck Mangione, David Murray, and Barbra Streisand, among others. In recent years she has given numerous cello solo demonstration/performances in NYC Public Schools as part of Music Outreach. Ms. Espada is a graduate of the Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music.

Our Very Favorite Ensembles:
  • Ghostlight Chorus:  GHOSTLIGHT is an elite chamber choir that maintains a rigorous calendar of performances showcasing varied repertoire of sacred and secular a capella choral compositions from the 16th to the 21st centuries.  Recent performances include the PS1 Benefit at the MoMA New York, sold-out concerts in many venues in Germany, world premieres of new compositions, and live performances with the Rolling Stones at the Barclays and Prudential Centers.  Time Out New York called GHOSTLIGHT "first-class."  Vogue described the ensemble as "beautiful."  The German newspaper Main Post Wuerzburg, praised the "excellently trained voices."  Maine's Press Herald said, "It is simply one of the best vocal ensembles I have heard in a long time."
  • Arcadia Brass:  The Arcadia Brass Quintet is a professional group of trumpets, horn, and trombones that has earned a reputation as a top-notch concert ensemble. The quintet has appeared in Manhattan at St. Patrick's Cathedral, the Museum of Natural History, and the Park Avenue Christmas Tree Lighting; in Long Island's Manhasset Gazebo Concert Series; in Brooklyn on Sacred Hearts & St. Stephen's Christmas Album & Concerts, as well as the Heroic Flourishes Concert series with organist Gregory Eaton at St. Ann & The Holy Trinity.  The Arcadia Brass were featured in the soundtrack to Lincoln Center Theater's award-winning production of War Horse.  They are frequent guest performers at St Francis Xavier church in Manhattan.
Vocalists:
  • Evelyn Troester - Vocalist:  Evelyn Troester is an internationally accomplished singer, music director, choral conductor, and music educator.  She is the founder and Artistic Director of Ghostlight Chorus, a critically-acclaimed a-capella choir that is known for its expert performances of some of the most challenging choral repertoire ever written.  As a well-traveled, versatile musician, Evelyn finds herself equally at ease singing works by Richard Strauss, György Kurtág, Manuel de Falla, or Thelonious Monk, and she performed with the Rolling Stones in their recent US arena concerts. Throughout her singing career, Ms. Troester has had the opportunity to work with master artists such as James Levine, Guiseppe Sinopoli, Candace Goetz, and Rhiannon.  Ms. Troester performs regularly in various concert venues, churches and synagogues in Brooklyn and Manhattan, and serves as cantor, choral director, and occasional organist at Sacred Hearts and St. Stephen's Church in Brooklyn. Evelyn received her Masters degree with a dual concentration in performance and music education at the renowned University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, Germany. She is currently a Doctoral Candidate and Teaching Assistant at Columbia University’s prestigious Teachers College.  She is also an accomplished pianist, guitarist, and has studied organ with Andrew Henderson and Jim Lake.
  • Laura Green - Soprano:  Soprano Laura Green can often be heard as a soloist with choirs in the New York area. Past engagements include soloist in the Bach Magnificat with the Collegiate Chorale at Carnegie Hall, Fauré Requiem and Samuel Barber's Knoxville: Summer of 1915 at St. Bartholomews’ Church, Bach Missa Brevis with the West Village Chorale, Bach Magnificat with the Berkshire Choral Society, Chichester Psalms at Church of St. John the Divine, music of Schütz and Monteverdi with The Dessoff Choir, and at the Bard Music Festival on a program of Czech Folklore. As an ensemble singer, Laura can frequently be heard in concert with the Choir of St. Ignatius Loyola, Voices of Ascension, St. Bartholomew’s Church Choir, Trinity Wall Street Choir, the New York Choral Artist, the Concert Chorale of New York and the Bard Festival Chorus, and Manhattan Voices (of which she is a founding member). Staged appearances include the Woodstock Fringe Festival, Jade Opera, and various New York premieres of chamber operas with Golden Fleece Chamber Theater.  New York concert opera credits include Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Sophie (Werther), and Despina (Cosi fan tutte). Ms. Green is the founder of the Yuletide Singers, New York City’s favorite Dickensian performers. Ms. Green holds a Master of Music degree from the Hartt School of Music and A Bachelor’s degree in music from James Madison University.
  • Colm Fitzmaurice - Tenor:  Lyric tenor Colm Fitzmaurice has performed as soloist with orchestras and opera companies throughout the United States.  Possessing what the Chicago Tribune describes as an "exquisite... sterling vocal quality," the New York Times described Colm's performances as "strong... likable... sweet-voiced."
  • John Tiranno - Tenor:  Tenor John Tiranno has had his singing called “ardent and mellifluous” by The New York Times, and “notably strong” by Anne Midgette of The Washington Post.  Very much in demand as a soloist, John's upcoming 2014 performances include Mozart’s Requiem (Sacred Music in a Sacred Space), Bach’s St. John Passion (at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City), and Handel’s Messiah with the Saint Andrew Chorale.  2013 engagements included solo performances with the Oratorio Society of New York,  Opera Roanoke, Brott Music Festival, The Oratorio Society of Virginia, and the New York Opera Society.  2012 performances included John's South American debut in Sao Paulo, Brazil and performances with Florentine Opera, Teatro Grattacielo, Musica Sacra, Sacred Music in a Sacred Space, and the Center for Contemporary Opera. John's European debut in Rome was at the Festival Internazionale di Musica e Arte Sacra.  He has also appeared as soloist with the American Symphony Orchestra, New York Grand Opera, Vermont Mozart Festival, the Oriana Singers, Concert Opera of Philadelphia, Light Opera of New York, Granite State Opera, the Dayton Philharmonic,Toledo Opera, Nashville Opera, Opera Colorado, and the Boulder Philharmonic.
